NAME: Kilian Khyran
CANON: Final Fantasy XIV (OC)
CANON POINT: Post Shadowbringers
AGE: 22
BACKGROUND:
• Grew up in Garlean territory, along the far reaches of the Ilsabard area. Was born into the Khyranasch tribe, which was situated near the Othard boarder. Would often go into the territory in order to steal food and weapons if need be.
• Never knew his parents due to how the tribe ran. There would be many males finding mates and if a child is made then they join a smaller sect of the tribe and learn how to fend for themselves. Children essentially raised children.
• Life within the tribe shaped him, fighting and hunting along with everyone else until he met a feisty matriarchal catte that suggested he leave.
• Eventually left when he was 15 and decided to travel far north, meeting another tribe of the Lost where he learned the ways of the gunbreaker from an individual that had left his original tribe long ago.
• It was there he trained for years before leaving and becoming a bodyguard.
• In his travels he went all over the world, moving from Garlean territory to Thavnair, to Eorzea, to Othard, where he then met those that wanted to liberate and rebuild Doma.
• Once he traveled to Ishgard he met with a young elezen that helped to train him up from a lancer to a dragoon. She ended up giving him her brother's soulstone.
• Has seen many wandering tribes and people, and has only heard of the Warrior of Light through talk and quick sightings.
• Heard of the WoL becoming ill of sorts, along with the scions, while protecting one of his clients. Has no knowledge of the First, so oblivious to the happenings outside of the Source.
• Last thing he remembers is sitting in a tavern in Kugane, drinking and having a good time after a recent mission went off without a hitch.
PERSONALITY:
Ever since he was a cub, Kilian had no choice but to try and prove himself to others. Growing up as the runt of the tribe, he was constantly picked on and pushed around. In order to stop being targeted, he had taken it upon himself to go out of his way to show his worth. He was a violent cub, always picking fights and boasting fake confidence. There was never anyone there to encourage him (or anyone for that matter), so he learned how to psych himself up. That artificially inflated ego eventually blossomed, and he found himself actually coming into his own, turning that fake confidence into something much more real. Eventually, his growth spurt hit, and he went from being the smallest to the largest, which took his ego to a whole other level. No longer did he think of himself as someone that needed to prove himself time and time again; instead, he saw himself as being the best, like he had known for so many years.
That being said, there are still times when his inferiority complex seems to creep back when he least expects it. If he is faced with a situation where he feels as though he's been compared to someone else, even being told that he is lesser, he will feel the need to show just how wrong that belief is. He is a proud hrothgar, and he will try to prove that not only can he surpass said person, but he can go above and beyond like no other. He is the sort of person that will never back down from a challenge. His attitude of never backing down and never giving up shows how much of a hard worker he really is, never shy to show off newly acquired talents.
Being an all male tribe meant that everyone had to be strong and contribute to the better of the group. The majority of the time they fulfilled assigned roles or went out in groups to hunt. In order to pass the time, they would create small tournaments for battling one another, and the strongest male would oversee the whole thing. He is so used to that sort of mentality of being proven worthy through violence that he still tends to think that way. He is quick to anger and quick to jump into a fight, as well as being overly stubborn and refusing to back down. Being the first to agree to defeat would mean total weakness, so of course he would rather continue any sort of fight rather than let someone else win, be it physical or an argument with words. He was never one to be careful with his words, always blunt and to the point- never one for wasting time.
It was normal in the Khyranasch Tribe for the males to go searching for mates, since they needed to carry on the name. They would often leave and go find other tribes of the Lost, trying to find what little females they could, and so Kilian has become accustomed to that sort of searching. Always going out of his way to find some sort of mate was normal to him, and even flirting and acting upon his impulses was encouraged. He has no problems when it comes to being flirtatious with the opposite sex, and he would even be overly open with them, asking out right if they wanted to have a good time with him or not. Since they were such a violent tribe there was always the chance of being killed and them being short lived, so trying to create cubs was always on their minds.
Ever since leaving his home he has traveled around the world, meeting many new people, yet even though he has traveled for so long he still retains the mentality of eat or be eaten. That’s how he was raised, plain and simple, and so he still sees the world as being divided by that belief. If one is weak, then they will be eaten, but if one is strong enough, then they will live. If there is ever a decision where he must make such a choice, he of course would choose to save himself, letting the weak be eaten rather than letting himself fall.
Kilian is able to get on good terms well enough with people, if they don’t tick him off immediately. However, he still doesn’t like allowing them into his life too much. He believes that discussing feelings, his own feelings especially, is a sign of weakness, and that he would be seen as being lesser than. He cannot allow himself to feel certain emotions, and he doesn’t like becoming close with people. This is why he prefers to call them nicknames instead of their actual name, to keep them from feeling comfortable with him. He's extremely particular when it comes to who he lets into his life, and even then he is closed off and cold when he is faced with his own emotions.
His morals are rather loose and always revert back to just trying to survive. If something would harm the betterment of the group, then get rid of it, plain and simple. He never has time for traitors or those that betray his trust, so if that ever happens he could easily cut someone out of his life.
Though he is aggressive, stubborn, and cold at times, he is still a rather caring individual. It wasn’t until he traveled and learned that he wanted to be a gunbreaker he realized he preferred the thought of protecting people. He liked violence and to be the center of that aggression, so it only made sense for him to become something that would be at the front of the pack. His kindness is still veiled behind sarcastic and teasing comments, but they are typically followed up by a genuine smile or a laugh, showing just how comfortable he can be with that person.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
Gunbreaker- A tank class, and Kilian's primary role. It is a class that uses a gunblade, and with it comes the ability to deal incredible damage by both slashing and shooting at targets, as well as protecting himself and others around him. Many of his abilities are suited to aggravating enemies and forcing them to attack him, where he then soaks most of the damage.
Dragoon- A DPS class and the role he chooses when he needs to deal extra damage to enemies. It's power looks like that of a dragon, and many of the skills and movements are done through jumping and flying through the air.
INVENTORY:
weapons (gunblade and lance), pouch of gil, soulstones
MOONBLESSING: Iris
